Members of the Oshkosh community are invited to celebrate the birthday and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Reeve Memorial Union Ballroom, 748 Algoma Blvd.

The 15th-annual celebration features dinner followed by a program recognizing the student winners of the Oshkosh Area School District’s Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest and honoring human service organizations that are making a difference in the community.

“Each human service organization will tell a brief story about how the efforts of their organization have helped provide important service to others in the community,” said Pamela Lassiter, UW Oshkosh’s director of equity and affirmative action.

Attendees also can find information on community volunteer opportunities and witness the unveiling of the 2010 U.S. Postal Service diversity stamp.

The cost to attend is $20 per person or $200 for a corporate table for 10. For more information, contact Jan Keene at (920) 424-2296 or keene@uwosh.edu.
