University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing seniors will present a Happy Holidays Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, during the Salvation Army-Fox Cities 2009 Christmas assistance registration event for families in Neenah.

Happy Holidays Health Fair activities will include free blood pressure checks and cholesterol screenings as well as beneficial information on healthy lifestyles.

“Our goal is to positively impact the health of a significant number of people in the Fox Valley,” said nursing student Laycie Krepline.

UW Oshkosh College of Nursing students Jessica Griswold, Laycie Krepline, Krissy Pekarek, Justin Polenska, Matthew Predick, Scott Revoir and Melissa Sommer are working on this project under the guidance of Clinical Instructor Paula McNiel.

“This is an excellent and very worthwhile health care initiative. The UW Oshkosh nursing students will be able to interact with clients of the Salvation Army-Fox Cities to help them better understand a healthy lifestyle,” said Robb Waugus, development director for the local Salvation Army.

Menasha Corporation Foundation and the UW Oshkosh College of Nursing are sponsors of the Happy Holidays Health Fair.

The Salvation Army-Fox Cities annual Christmas assistance registration for “Adopt-A-Family,” holiday toy distribution programs and Christmas food baskets will be held at 647 S. Green Bay Road in Neenah Nov. 11-13.
