Hundreds of University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students, faculty and staff will volunteer throughout the community Oct. 10 to clean, paint and fix up 18 different sites in Oshkosh.

Hands On Oshkosh is a semi-annual event sponsored by the Student Leadership and Involvement department at the University. The event, held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will bring 250 volunteers to schools, the Oshkosh Police Department, and several residences and businesses to help “spruce up” the properties.

“Hands on Oshkosh offers students, faculty and staff the opportunity to go out in the community and make an impact on people’s lives,” said Mike Lueder, volunteerism adviser for the University’s Reeve Union. “The goal is to help out as many people as we can in a short amount of time. It is hard work, but being able to reflect back and see what we did is an amazing feeling.”
