Brilliant paintings, dramatic photographs and intriguing 3-D pieces await visitors to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Alumni Art Exhibition Sept. 25-Oct. 17.

Works by more than 50 UWO alumni art majors will be featured in the exhibit, hosted by the Gail Floether Steinhilber Art Gallery in Reeve Memorial Union, 748 Algoma Blvd. The expanded exhibit continues on the second floor of Reeve near the ballrooms.

“The Alumni Art Exhibition is an exciting opportunity to showcase our many talented alumni across the state and nation,” said UWO Alumni Director Christine Gantner.

Works by alumni artists from Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin will be included in the display.

“We have a little bit of everything,” said gallery coordinator Emmet Sandberg. “We have a wide array of media and subject matter and a good quantity of quality pieces.”

Two special events are planned at the gallery in conjunction with the exhibit — an opening reception, 4-7 p.m. Sept. 25, and a Homecoming reception, 5-7 p.m. Oct. 16.

“The exhibition adds to the diversity of offerings we have planned for UW Oshkosh’s 2009 Homecoming celebration,” Gantner said.

Nationally recognized watercolor artist Joye Moon ’84, of Oshkosh, will speak at the Homecoming event. Later that night, Moon will be among the nine alumni honored at the UW Oshkosh Alumni Association’s annual awards dinner.
