The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Hockey Club split their season opening series with UW-Madison Sept. 14 and 15, taking 3 of 4 points.

UW Oshkosh lost their home opener 7-6 in overtime.  The Titans scored first in the contest, but were tied after every period.  They had to fight back in the third period to tie the game at 6 all, but then lost 1:07 into the overtime period.  Tyler Beckman and Andrew Severson led the team with a goal and assist each. Tony Grandprey finish the contest with 32 saves in net.

On Saturday, Sept. 15 the UWO Hockey Club traveled to Madison to play the second game of the series.  Again the Titans scored first, but remained tied after the first and second periods.  This time, the Titans shut-out the Badgers in the 3rd period to win 7-4.  The Titans were led by Luke Whitlow, who scored a hat-trick, and Max Carrigan, who had 2 assists and an empty net goal.  Eric Vela earned the victory in net by making 25 saves.

The Titans are back in action Sept. 21 and 22 against UW-Milwaukee. Friday’s game is at Milwaukee’s Eble Park at 7 p.m., with Saturday’s game at home at 5:25 p.m.  Saturday’s game will be played at the 20th Ave. YMCA.  Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for high school students, and children free with a paying adult.  Zamboni rides are raffled off at every home game.
