Thirty-three members of UW Oshkosh’s classified staff are serving as volunteers for the 2007 Celebration of Lights at Menomonee Park in Oshkosh.

Every year at this time, Menomonee Park is filled with lights and decorations. The holiday, drive-through experience is a tradition for many families. It also benefits the community by collecting food donations for local shelters.

Classified staff volunteers are helping out by taking tickets at the gate and collecting canned foods for local shelters from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2-15.

“Employee volunteering not only builds teamwork skills and increases employee pride, it also improves the campus’s reputation and public image within the community,” said Red Darland, purchasing agent and vice chair of the Classified Staff Advisory Council.

The following staff members are volunteering: Pat Bernhardt, Nancy Bogenhagen, Jean Bord, Nicole Bourassa, Sara Bradway, Marci Braun, Kathy Budweg, Linda Cotton, Tiffany Cummings, Red Darland, Ruth Eberwine, Holly Eckroth, Brenda Garza, Bonnie Gaskill, Mary Hale, Dawn Herzig, Sharon Hybke, Michelle Jensen, Ricky Johnson, Barb Kargus, Peggy Karls, Norleen Luebke, Cynthia Maas, Nancy Mugerauer, Sandy Nigl (not pictured), Terry Procter, Jill Reichenberger (not pictured), Karen Reiter, Vickie Scott, Pat Stremer, Jodi Vandermolen, Ryan VanScyoc and Patti Wild. Eight spouses and significant others also volunteer.

“With the continued support of the Classified Advisory Council and Chancellor Wells, it is my hope to bridge a long-term relationship between the University and the local community,” Darland said.
