University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Sports Information Director Kennan Timm has been selected for induction into the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame.

CoSIDA is made up of intercollegiate athletic communication and media relations professionals from colleges, universities and athletic conferences at all divisions of competition in the United States and Canada.

A celebratory event recognizing Timm and other sports information directors will be held in June.

Timm’s 30 years in the sports information profession have extended  beyond promoting UW Oshkosh athletics.

Timm has served as the host media relations director for 19 NCAA Division III championship events in six different sports, as well as more than 50 NCAA Division III regional tournaments.

Timm began his sports information career as a student at UW-La Crosse and took over as the school’s full-time sports information director in 1982.  Timm returned to his hometown in 1985 to become the sports information director at UW Oshkosh, a position he has held since.

While at UW Oshkosh, Timm has been in charge of publicizing one of the most successful athletics programs in the NCAA Division III.  UW Oshkosh has captured 26 NCAA Division III titles since Timm’s arrival.

In 2009, Timm received CoSIDA’s Warren Berg Award. He has also received 12 publication awards and a 25-year award from the organization.  He is currently a member of CoSIDA’s NCAA Media Advisory Board.
