Terry Coleman, a student services coordinator in the College of Business’s MBA program, has been named the recipient of the STAR Award for January 2009. Coleman was nominated by Lynn Mozingo, the operations director of the MBA program. The nomination of Coleman follows:

“Terry Coleman joined the MBA program staff in May 2005. Since that time, Terry has willingly and enthusiastically taken on many new tasks and projects. She came to our office (we serve more than 600 graduate students every semester) to provide clerical support.

“Since that time, Terry has taken on new activities and tasks, such as coordinating our all-day MBA new student orientation and the annual graduation banquet — both significant events for the College of Business. She has learned to evaluate transcripts for prospective students. She processes admissions for newly admitted students and can answer questions about admissions, registration procedures and entrance requirements. She compiles semester registration information for our Web site and manages all graduate course scheduling on both PeopleSoft and our internal Access database.

“Terry provides an exceptionally high level of customer service to both our internal and external customers, which has made her an invaluable member of our staff. She always is positive and incredibly patient and goes above and beyond what we expect when explaining processes and procedures to current and prospective students. She also provides thoughtful input when we address internal process re-engineering to better serve our customers. She recently has served on two UW Oshkosh search and screen committees without negatively affecting her job performance.

“There is no doubt that Terry is very deserving of the UW Oshkosh STAR award.”

Winners of the STAR Award receive a framed certificate, a reserved parking space for one month and a gift from University Books & More. The award for exceptional performance is presented each month to a member of the classified staff who has worked at least six months at UW Oshkosh.
