The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh community is invited to the free Nearly Naked Mile, a mile-long run/walk sponsored by the Student Alumni Ambassadors, on Nov. 17. Registration begins at 6 p.m.

Participants will depart and finish from the historic Pollock Alumni House, home to the Alumni Relations Office located across from Albee Hall. Come dressed in layers and be prepared to donate your clothes at the starting line and run/walk nearly naked! The first 100 registrants will receive a free T-shirt.

“I really find that students like participating in the Nearly Naked Mile because it is truly nothing like any other event on campus,” said Sheraden Bobot, SAA adviser. “Many dress in silly costumes and take photos with their friends. It’s one of those things you do with your friends and remember it forever in your photo albums online or scrap books at home.”

All clothes shed before the run, which will depart at 6:45 p.m., are donated to Camp Wawbeek, Wisconsin Dells. The camp is run by the Easter Seals organization for cogitative and physically disabled high school children.

A reception with snacks and refreshments will follow the run with an opportunity for students to network.

“The Nearly Naked Mile is a great opportunity to take a break from your studies and goof around with your friends but still do something good for the greater community around us,” Bobot said. “The act of donating clothes this time of year to a charitable organization is something all UW Oshkosh students should take part in. We should never forget that there are always others in need and remain thankful for the things we do have such as friends and the opportunity to receive an education.”
