Students and staff wishing to learn more about sustainability on campus or who simply have questions are invited to the upcoming Campus Sustainability Open Forum on Nov. 10.

The event is hosted by the Campus Sustainability Council and will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. in the lobby of Sage Hall.

Booths featuring different topics related to sustainability will be set up throughout the lobby, and members of the council will be available to answer questions and collect feedback.

Stephanie Spehar, the University Leadership Fellow for Sustainability at UW Oshkosh, said the forum will be set up in a way so everyone is welcome to discuss opinions and concerns, no matter how much knowledge they have on the topic.

“We wanted to create an event that is informal and low-key so people don’t have to feel uncomfortable sharing their ideas,” Spehar said.

Faculty, staff and students make up the Campus Sustainability Council, whose primary mission is to set priorities and goals regarding sustainability initiatives and then make recommendations to the administration. That is another key reason the council seeks feedback from the campus community during the open forum.

Spehar said the event will foster communication between students and colleagues on campus who are directly affected by UW Oshkosh’s sustainability, welcoming their feedback and proposals to help guide and shape the next efforts.

“If anyone is curious about sustainability—what it is or just curious about what we’re doing on campus—I encourage them to come to the forum and ask questions,” she said. “We’re really hoping for a lot of feedback.”
