A first look at the Black Thursday Oral History Project evoked a mix of emotions from those who contributed their stories, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh faculty and staff, and members of the greater Oshkosh community who attended a preview of the exhibit at the University’s Steinhilber Gallery and, afterward, packed into the Grand Opera House for a panel presentation Nov. 20.

The multi-media exhibit recalls the events of Nov. 21, 1968, when nearly 100 African-American students were expelled from Wisconsin State University-Oshkosh for on-campus demonstrations.
