With less than one week until students move into the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh residence halls, and with Wisconsin summer construction still underway throughout much of the state, there are plenty of on-campus resources to make lugging belongings through work zones a bit easier.
The Department of Student Affairs, Department of Residence Life and Integrated Marketing and Communications teams on campus teamed up to create easy-to-use Web pages and resources to help make the fall 2011 return to UW Oshkosh run smoothly.
“We are confident that providing our students, faculty and staff with plenty of information and solutions to navigate through it all will make the start of a new academic year safe and smooth,” said Petra Roter, vice chancellor of student affairs.
The Move-in and Opening Day landing page is a handy resource to find the most up-to-date news and information, including regularly updated state, city and campus construction maps. The landing page also includes recommended travel routes to UW Oshkosh destinations. Visit http://www.uwosh.edu/home/move-in-day.
The page also features:
- Direct links to Residence Life Move-in details: With one click, new and returning students living in residence halls can see the move-in schedule for their specific residence hall. There are also links to Residence Life Web pages with more information and contacts helping you get questions answered before the trip to campus.
- Facebook link: Be sure to “Like” the UW Oshkosh Facebook page and stay up to speed on tips and suggestions from the University and the hundreds of other students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni.
- Twitter wisdom and a special Move-in Day hashtag: Follow @uwoshkosh for real-time traffic, parking and Move-in Day information. A special Move-in Day hashtag — #uwomove — has also been developed.
“There may be congestion and redirection of traffic on Move-in Day and we recommend that you plan accordingly. We are proud to see all the construction improving and reshaping our campus,” Roter said. “Allow yourself extra travel time and please be safe, patient and civil.”
Student move-in begins Sunday, Sept. 4 and continues Monday, Sept. 5. Students are assigned move-in time slots based on their last name and the type of student they are. For more information from the Department of Residence Life, visit http://www.housing.uwosh.edu/.
