COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 2011)—The Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I) honored James M. Chitwood with the 2011 ACUHO-I Award during a recognition reception held during the 2011 Annual Conference & Exposition in New Orleans, Louisiana, July 9-12.

Dr. Chitwood, retired from University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, received the award based on his continued contributions to the collegiate housing profession.

The ACUHO-I Award constitutes the highest recognition by the Association of a person who has made an outstanding contribution to ACUHO-I and the field of housing and food service. Presented only after a person has retired or left the housing and food service field, the award is presented at the ACUHO-I annual conference. The award is intended to truly recognize distinguished service to ACUHO-I or through ACUHO-I contacts to the field of student housing and food service.

To be considered, honorees are nominated by peer nomination, must meet certain criteria for each award, and are nominated based on their talents and continued contributions to better the collegiate housing profession.
