Tuesday, Sept. 30

• “In Debt We Trust: America Before the Bubble Bursts,” an uncompromising documentary investigates why so many Americans are being strangled by debt will be shown from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Women’s Center, as part of their Smart Moves Film Series.

• Jimmy Cabrera, author of “Leaders Delivering Results…Through Peak Performance,” will speak from 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 227B of Reeve Memorial Union. The event is part of Hispanic Heritage Month at the University

• “Enhancing Life Through Art,” a lecture by Tina Packer, founder and artistic director of Shakespeare & Company, will explore how our lives can be enhanced, expanded and strengthened through art. This is part of Shakespeare on the Fox 2008. It will take place at 7 p.m. in Reeve Memorial Union Theater.

• A Faculty Recital, featuring music professor Alison Shaw on percussion will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Music Hall in the Arts and Communication Center.

Wednesday, Oct. 1

• “Surviving Change: Native and Metis Women, Kinship and Reciprocity in the mid-Nineteenth Century Fox River Valley” is the name of the Women Center’s Brown Bag session from noon to 1 p.m. Stephanie May de Montingny, a religious studies and anthropology professor, will be the keynote speaker. The event will be held at the Women’s Center.

• Take Back the Night activities and rally will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Polk Library Mall and will be followed by a march to the steps of the Winnebago County Courthouse. This is a collaborative event organized by UW Oshkosh, Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, REACH Counseling Services and the Oshkosh Police Department.

• The Titans take on UW-Stevens Point in women’s volleyball at 7 p.m. at Kolf Sports Center.

Thursday, Oct. 2

• More than 170 employers with open positions will be available for networking and on-the-spot interviews at Career Fair on the Fox, 2 to 6 p.m. at Kolf Sports Center. Candidates are encouraged to bring resumes and business cards.

• “Border Crossing: Folk Songs from Latin America” will be presented from 6 to 7 p.m. by foreign language professor Charles Thomas. This Hispanic Heritage Month event will be held in Room 214 of Reeve Memorial Union.

• An artists’ reception for David Poppie, a printmaker, and Roger Sayre, a photographer, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Priebe Gallery in the Arts and Communication Center. The two artists team up to tackle such topics as environmental disaster, durable habitat and recycling inorganic material in the exhibit “(remix) media,” which will be on display from Oct. 2 to 26.

• A faculty jazz concert, starring Marty Robinson on trumpet as well as other local jazz all-stars, takes the stage at the Music Hall in Arts and Communication Center at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 3

• Titan Nights returns with an “all-nighter” of fun for students in the Reeve Underground. Events such as T-shirt tie-dying, pumpkin decorating, a movie and comic juggler Sean Emery will be held from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
