In this week’s UWO Now podcast, UWO Distinguished Alumnus Maurice “Moe” Wince tackles food insecurity in a Milwaukee neighborhood while developing a business ecosystem.

In July 2022, Wince and his wife opened the only Black-owned full-service grocery store in Wisconsin to provide healthy food options in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood considered a “food desert.”

His work with Sherman Park Grocery includes building relationships with social service agencies, health care organizations and workforce centers. He is involved in and has initiated many projects, with motivation to help those who need a “hand up.”

The biweekly UWO Now podcast, hosted by UWO’s Wendell Ray, is available on Apple, Google, Spotify, Amazon and YouTube. Episodes also air at 5:30 p.m. Friday on 90.3 WRST-FM.
