Holly Ozanich

Defending 20-pound weight throw champion Holly Ozanich, a senior from Green Bay, leads a list of eight University of Wisconsin Oshkosh entrants for this weekend’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship in Columbus, Ohio.

Competition in the two-day meet begins at 9:30 a.m. (ET) on March 11 and continues at 9 a.m. (ET) on March 12 at the Capital Center on the Capital University campus. The meet features 15 events, with the top eight finishers earning All-America status. The top four teams collect a trophy.

UW Oshkosh, which finished second at last year’s meet with 29 points, is expected to battle two-time defending champion Wartburg College, located in Iowa, 2008 champion Illinois Wesleyan University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Williams College, located in Massachusetts, for this year’s crown. The Titans won NCAA Division III indoor titles in 1994, 1995, 1996, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Ozanich goes for her third All-America award in the 20-pound weight throw after placing first with a distance of 64-5 1/4 in 2010 and second with a mark of 56-4 1/2 in 2009. She is the top seed among 17 participants in this year’s competition with a distance of 65-8 3/4.

The Titans will also be represented in the event by Jecel Gerner, a sophomore from Markesan, and Alexia Child, a junior from Lake Geneva. Gerner is seeded seventh with a distance of 57-4 1/4 and Child 13th with a measurement of 55-11 3/4.

In the shot put, Ozanich seeks her second All-America citation after finishing third with a distance of 46-3 1/2 a year ago. She is seeded third in this year’s meet with a mark of 49-7 1/4. UW Oshkosh will also be represented in the event by Gerner, who placed sixth at last year’s meet with a distance of 45-7 1/4, and Breanna Strupp, a sophomore from Slinger. Gerner is seeded second with a distance of 51-11 and Strupp eighth with a mark of 45-5 1/4. Mindy Hanson of Carthage College is the top seed with a distance of 51-11 3/4.

Camille Davis

On the track, UW Oshkosh will be represented by Camille Davis, a senior from Green Bay, in the 55-meter dash and Christy Cazzola, a sophomore from Kaukauna, in the mile run. Davis, who placed seventh with a time of 7.26 seconds at last year’s meet, is seeded second with a time of 7.08 seconds. Erica Johnson of Buffalo State College, located in New York, is the top seed with a time of 7.07 seconds. Cazzola is seeded third with a time of 4:54.03, while Randelle Boots of Wellesley College, located in Massachusetts, is the top seed at 4:49.22.

UW Oshkosh has two of the top 10 seeds in the pole vault with Danielle Carrigan, a junior from Waukesha, and Lisha Hanson, a junior from Clintonville. Carrigan is seeded fourth with a height of 12-9 1/2, while Hanson is seeded 10th with a leap of 12-1 1/2. Karin Fisher of Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the top seed with a height of 13-6 1/4.
