The purpose of this activity was to evaluate the existing IEP and add improvements and modifications. Assistive Technology

  • On Screen/Scanning Calculator: Big:Calc, available from Don Johnston, Inc. (www.donjohnston.com) is a calculator that has six different layouts. It can speak individual keys, figures, and entire equations. This is useful so the student can learn to use the computer, practice his mathematical computations, and still have modifications to assist him when necessary.
  • Math processor: MathPad, available from IntelliTools (www.intellitools.com). Students can perform computations without pencil and paper using included and custom made overlays. This is useful because, with the opportunity to make custom overlays, the teacher can create different math problems for the student to solve with the assistance of the computer.
  • Organizing: Inspiration Software (www.inspiration.com). Student can use this software to brainstorm, organize, prewrite, and plan the job summaries his is required to write about as per his IEP. This is useful because the student can use this software to easily visualize his main ideas before he begins writing.

Multiple Intelligences

  • Interpersonal: Student can develop interview questions with his teacher, tape record the questions if necessary, and use a video camera to interview another high school student about his/her job.
  • Bodily/Kinesthetic: Student can take a classmate to a job site for the day and demonstrate all the different jobs he performs while working.
