How can I share my documents?
In the document you want to share there is a blue share button in the upper right corner. This will open a pop up that allows you to type in users you would like to share with. You are able to select between allowing them to edit, add comments or only view.
How much space does Drive have?
Drive allows you 5GB of space. This is separate from the 25GB limit your inbox has.
I was able to upload and/or share my document, but I am not able to edit it though my web browser. How can I fix this?
It is possible to upload many different file types to your Drive (such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point), however only those in Google format are able to be edited through the web browser. You can do this by opening the file and then going to the file menu option and selecting 'Export to Google Document." This will make a new version of the file in Google format, that you can then share to those you would like to collaborate with.
What types of documents can I put in my Drive?
You are able to put any file type in your Drive however only the follow can be viewed through a web browser:
- Microsoft Word (.DOC and .DOCX)
- Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT and .PPTX)
- Adobe Portable Document Format (.PDF)
- Apple Pages (.PAGES)
- Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
- Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
- Tagged Image File Format (.TIFF)
- Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
- Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
- PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
- TrueType (.TTF)
- XML Paper Specification (.XPS)
- Archive file types (.ZIP and .RAR)
- Text files (.TXT)
- Markup/Code (.CSS, .HTML, .PHP, .C, .CPP, .H, .HPP, .JS)
Is there a limit to how many people I can share a document to?
You are able to share an item to up to 200 people. Only 50 people can edit a spreadsheet, document, or drawing at the same time. Only 10 people can edit a presentation at a time.
