UWO's Recycling Guide

The Do's and Don'ts of recycling at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Do Recycle Paper

  • Newspapers (all sections)
  • Brown paper grocery bags
  • Magazines and catalogs
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Home office paper
  • Junk Mail and envelopes
  • Beverage 12/24 packs
  • Kleenex boxes (no tissue)
  • Hanging file folders (remove metal hangers)
  • Shredded paper (Please place in a brown PAPER bag before placing in the recycling bin)
  • Paperboard

Do Recycle Containers

(Place LOOSE inside recycling cart)

  • Aluminum beverage cans
  • Metal ("tin") food cans (Labels and lids on)
  • Glass food jars and beverage (Clear, Blue, Brown, Green)
  • Plastic Narrow-Necked Containers Marked with #1 or #2 (without caps)
  • Dairy containers (e.g., yogurt)
  • Deli containers (must be clean)

 

DO NOT Recyce

(Items to be thrown away in your normal garbage)

  • Wide mouth #1 and #2 CONTAINERS - that contained these items: oil, brake/transmission fluid, margarine
  • Window Glass, Drinking glasses, Pyrex dishes
  • Ice Cream Buckets
  • Plant Flats and Pots
  • Light Bulbs
  • Aluminum foil and cooking trays
  • Pizza boxes
  • Personal paper products - Tissue
  • Frozen food boxes
  • Paper with food on it
  • Paper cups from Reeve and all other Market Places
  • Styrofoam containers
  • Plastic bags
