Project Success Application Process
You should not apply to Project Success until at least the fall semester of your junior year in high school. Your application will not be considered complete until the following items have been received at our office.
Handwritten letter about you and your interest in the program (see suggested outline below)
Completed application form (download a pdf version of the application here: PS Application (PDF)
A copy of your most recent documentation of your disability--should be within last three years and IEP alone is not sufficient documentation.
A copy of your high school transcript with a schedule of senior year classes if these classes are not shown on your transcript (even if you have already sent these to the University's Admissions office, sending us a copy will save time.)
A copy of your ACT report. (Again, even if these have been sent to the university, sending us a copy will save time.)
Once we receive the above materials, we first check over the documentation to be sure it is recent, (within last 3 years), complete and that the student has a language-based learning disability.
After it is determined that the student has a language-based learning disability, we send the ACT results, Transcripts and Senior year schedule to the Admissions office to determine if the student would be eligible for admission to UW Oshkosh. An Admissions office counselor evaluates the transcript and places it into one of three categories: Full Admit, meaning that the student would be admitted to UW Oshkosh regardless of whether he or she is entering the Project Success program; Summer Admit, meaning that the student had all the units (see listing below) for entrance, but did not meet University class rank and/or ACT requirements and can come in through successful completion of the Project Success Summer program, and Deny, generally because of lack of one or more units such as completion of or current registration in Algebra II and/or a cumulative high school grade point averate of less than 2.00.
If you download the form, be sure to send your handwritten letter with your application.
A suggested outline for the letter is:

Why you are interested in the Project Success Program
When you return your application, you must supply documentation of your disability. The documentation should be dated within the past three years. If you are still in high school, you should request a re-evaluation in your junior or senior year. Note: a recent IEP alone is not sufficient documentation of a disability. If you have no recent documentation, our office can do testing to help you provide the appropriate documentation for UW System requirements; however, we do not have the time or personnel to do complete documentation for students who have not previously been identified as learning disabled. For more information on the UW Oshkosh documentation requirements please contact the Dean of Students office at 424-3100 or visit their web site at the Disability Services web page.
