Waiting in the Wings. Theaterland
Description
This eight-part documentary series goes back stage to cover six months in the life of London's Theater Royal Haymarket from all angles, including the arrival of new artistic director Sean Mathias and the lead up to his production of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot," starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. In the fifth episode, understudy Gareth Williams gets a chance to perform as Stewart suffers from vocal strain after 100 shows. Mathias begins preparations for the next production, "Breakfast at Tiffany's," including consulting set designers, reading the script with lead actors Anna Friel and Joseph Cross, and hosting a party for ticket agencies to promote sales.
