Carl Rottmann. The Greek Cycle
Description
Carl Rottmann's "The Greek Cycle" depicts legendary ancient Greek locations as he found them in modern times; he depicts not ruins but landscapes and small villages that cover former glories. He painted it for the Bavarian King Ludwig I, whose son had become King of Greece following Greek independence from the Ottoman Empire.
