Description

In December of 1936, the peaceful settlement of the Xi’an incident was an influential moment in Chinese history. This program studies that incident, which was initiated by Kuomintang Generals Zhang Xue-liang and Yang Hu-cheng. Plagued by the invasion of Imperial Japan, Generals Zhang and Yang succeeded in persuading Chiang Kai-shek to suspend the Chinese Civil War in order to unite against the Japanese invaders.
