Description

This Globe Trekker episode follows several explorers through India, hitting the crowded cities of Calcutta, Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai, home to the world's biggest film industry, historic sites like the Taj Mahal, several Hindu temples, and the mountain ranges on a Himalayan trek and a stop at some British colonial hill top retreats. They make time to attend several Hindu festivals and to investigate the cuisine by tasting local dishes like a thali served up on banana leaves, stopping at the only pepper exchange in the world, and partying at a hot toddy bar. Finally, they absorb the beauty of the subcontinent's beaches on Lakshwadeep, the coral islands in the Arabian Sea, at the new hippy hangout of Varkala, and in the old Portuguese colony of Goa, before jetting west to the untouched reefs and protected tribes of the Andaman Islands.
