Cushing's Disease. Unraveling a Medical Mystery
Description
The goal of this program is to educate viewers about the mysterious condition known as Cushing's disease. The program discusses why the diagnosis is often delayed: many patients can have it for five or ten years before they are correctly diagnosed. This delay occurs because the symptoms of Cushing's disease are similar to those of other conditions. But, as viewers are told by experts, Cushing's disease can be treated, and in some cases a full recovery is possible. The program also explores the history of Cushing's disease, which is named for Harvey Cushing, considered by many to be "the father of modern neurosurgery.
