Addiction Vaccines. Can Science Win the War on Drug Addiction?
Description
What if we could vaccinate children against addictive drugs like nicotine, heroin, cocaine, or amphetamines before they were even old enough to try them? Addiction remains a huge social and medical challenge, and this video investigates vaccines that could stop many common drugs from having any pleasurable effect on the brain or body. Treatments that eliminate the rush or high affiliated with addictive drugs are already undergoing trials. But they do raise an ethical dilemma: if these vaccines can stop the effect of drugs why not use them as a preventative, or even mandate them legally?
