Mike Philpott boards a former Soviet spy ship and travels to the outer limits of Canada's Arctic Circle. From Nanisivik, he cruises Lancaster Sound in this storied "land of the midnight sun." When he's not dodging wild polar bears, Mike is photographing giant icebergs from his inflatable boat. He then visits the graves of British sailors who died on Beechey Island in 1848 along with the famed Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin while attempting to chart the elusive Northwest Passage. His final stop is the remote Inuit community of Pond Inlet where he learns the ancient art of throat singing.
