The Big Picture. The History of Cavalry
Description
This episode of the U.S. Army's The Big Picture television series brings viewers the story of the Cavalry in its long ride to glory. From the Revolutionary War, through wars with Mexico, the Civil War and Indian Wars, the Cavalry was decisive, but although two World Wars dismounted the men in the 1st. Cavalry Division, they transitioned to armored carriers, amphibious vessels, and became airborne paratroopers in today's Army. Today, the Honor Guard and the word cavalry call to mind a warm glow of nostalgia and distinction for a group whose historic role in the defense of the country is one of the Army's most illustrious chapters.
