Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A Concise Biography
Description
In this introduction to the biography and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from the Famous Composers series, viewers are offered a glimpse of court lifestyle in Salzburg, where Leopold Mozart, the composer's father, was a musician, and in other European capitals, where his young children toured and performed. Leopold was an accomplished musician himself, but dedicated himself to the development of his children. Mozart's genius was recognized early and he was performing for nobility by the age of five. At twelve the boy returned to Vienna and composed his first opera and then went on a tour of Italy. The film follows Mozart's European travels, eventually finding him back in Salzburg as court organist. He was treated as a servant, however, and soon resigned. While Mozart was gaining success with Don Giovanni, he was suffering his own illness, poverty, his wife's illness, and his father's death. The conditions of his life continued to be difficult until his death, but he managed to compose a great amount of work.
