Sightseeing, Business, and Culture
Description
Founded near the end of the 11th century, the University of Bologna is considered the oldest continually operating institution of higher learning in Europe and is a great source of the city's pride. But Bologna offers many other celebrated landmarks, including the ancient Piazza Maggiore and the unfinished façade of the San Petronio Basilica. This program introduces key Italian words, phrases, and expressions as it takes in Bologna's sights, travels through greater Tuscany, and explores where Bologna's citizens live and work. Viewers learn how to ask for walking directions and how to get around on one of Italy's most beloved vehicles - the Vespa. A BBC Production.
