The Power of Lighting for Film and Video. Color Correction and Filtration
Description
Sunlit windows and decorative lamps may look attractive to the human eye, but they don't always fit into the color palette a cinematographer wants to create. This program examines methods of color correction and filtration and how they can be used to alter existing light, either subtly or dramatically, when shooting film and video. Featuring several camera set-ups and lighting examples, the program explains the difference between tungsten and daylight exposures while offering in-depth guidance in the use of CTO, CTB, and neutral density gels and filters; Pro-Mist diffusion filters; and graduated filters. Students are shown how to correct for daylight, fluorescent, sodium vapor, and mercury vapor sources and how to use and read a GamColor swatch book.
