Conservative movement woes
Description
The Bush Administration is ending just as, some say, the conservative movement has run out of gas. How did the political right go so wrong? In this edition of the Journal, Bill Moyers is joined by conservatives Mickey Edwards and Ross Douthat, who discuss why they believe their movement has gone off track and what it means for the Republican Party. Douthat is senior editor at The Atlantic Monthly and co-author of Grand New Party: How Republicans Can Win the Working Class and Save the American Dream; Mickey Edwards is a former Republican congressman and author of Reclaiming Conservatism: How a Great American Political Movement Got Lost-And How It Can Find Its Way Back. The program ends with an introduction to Deepening the American Dream, an online project that features some of Moyers' notable guests laying out their vision for the future of the American dream.
