Description
A key component of John F. Kennedy's presidential platform was the establishment of a national service organization. In his 1961 inaugural address, he reaffirmed his commitment to public service, challenging Americans to "ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country". Shortly after, President Kennedy announced the creation of the Peace Corps.
