Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin Meet at Yalta ca. 1945
Description
Three months prior to the surrender of Germany during World War II, leaders from the "Big Three" Allied nations - the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union - met at the Yalta Conference to discuss the future of Poland, Germany, and the remainder of eastern Europe after the end of the war. Russian premier Joseph Stalin also reaffirmed the promise he had made at the Tehran Conference in 1943 - that once Germany had been defeated, the Soviet Union would enter the war against Japan.
