Description
President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps, which sent volunteers to assist with social and technological needs in developing countries, as part of his New Frontier program. Thousands of young Americans volunteered for the service and began jobs ranging from teaching to developing health programs in Africa, the Near East, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia.
