Taft-Hartley Act Is Passed ca. 1947
Description
The 1947 Taft-Hartley Act was a product of the cold war - era backlash against organized labor. President Harry Truman had vetoed the bill because he thought that legislation was necessary "to correct abuses in the field of labor relations", but the Senate overrode the veto. Senator Robert Taft (R, OH), co-sponsor of the bill, accused Truman of bowing to pressure from labor unions.
