Obsessive-compulsive disorder. Tyranny of rituals
Description
There are 34,000 different obsessive-compulsive disorders. Mine is just one among many others. In this program, research psychiatrist Gilbert Pinard and pediatric psychiatrist Patricia Garel talk with OCD patients about their rituals-the thoughts and behaviors triggered by hyperactive brain activity involving the thalamus, orbito-frontal cortex, and caudate nucleus. The effectiveness of behavioral and drug therapies in controlling obsessive-compulsive disorder is discussed as well.
