CBT for Depression, Behavioral Activation and Cognitive Change

Description

This video addresses the application of cognitive-behavioral therapy to depression, a treatment area in which CBT has a well-established track record. Working with a colleague taking the role of a client, Frank Wills demonstrates the approach and discusses the progress of the work in a series of studio discussions. The video shows how Wills uses both "activity scheduling" and "behavioral activation" to demonstrate how to help this client re-establish the more socially active stance that preceded her depression and how various cognitive methods help in exploring and modifying the client’s thoughts and beliefs that link with her negative, depressive patterns. Wills also discusses the methodology of CBT and the therapeutic relationship.
