Néstor Almendros. A Fondo—In Their Own Words

Description

Néstor Almendros (1930-1992). The cinematographer and director of photography describes in detail his personal and professional trajectory, taking advantage of the "unique opportunity, since the technicians are not seen", of the program A FONDO of 1978, shortly before receiving an Oscar by Days of sky (T. Malick). In adolescence he was influenced by the reading of A film history by Ángel Zúñiga, who "anticipated Cahiers in twenty years." After the exile of his family in Cuba, he began a journey that will take him to Rome, Paris and the United States, working with directors such as Rohmer, Truffaut, Schroeder, Duras, Aranda, Rossellini, Pakula, Scorsese, who gave testimony of his book Days of a Camera. Although it adapts to different criteria "in general terms I am for simplicity, for the only light."
