Description
Reviewing the action of neurotransmitters, this video seminar examines how psychiatric medications work. It looks at the action, effects, and side effects of such medications for depression as cyclics, SSRIs, SNRIs, and herbal medications; disucsses the use of lithium, anticonvulsants, and antipsychotics for bipoar disorder; reviews such medications for anxiety disorder as benzodiazepines, non-benzodiazepines, anxiolytics, and insomnia medications; and looks at antipsychotic use for schizophrenia. It also reviews special considerations of medication prescription for children, adolescent, and older adult populations.
