Bees and Biodiversity. The Science Squad
Description
Those who have been paying attention to environmental news over the past couple years know that honey bees have been disappearing at an alarming rate, and according to Einstein, “if the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.” It’s a sobering thought! We speak to Jane Stout from TCD to find out the true extent of the problem and what the consequences might be in terms of biodiversity, and feature the work of Irish scientists in Galway who are working on products that could improve the health of honeybees.
