Jonathan Miller's daring dramatization of Bach's most famous work. The whole production is in the round, with singers and orchestra in ordinary clothes. The oratorio is sung in German in a very intimate staging, with a 26-piece double orchestra of period instruments, two 12-strong choirs and soloists Rufus Muller, Richard Jackson, Nancy Argenta, Jonathan Peter Kenny, Jamie MacDougall, and Stephen Varcoe.
