Description
This program examines the enormous impact of the introduction of railways, covering the technological revolution, the commercial and human reactions that culminated in Railway Mania, and the economic and social results: the increased demand for coal and iron, the delivery of fresh food and milk in cities, the reduction of local isolation and differences, the requirement of new management skills, the landscape changes created by viaducts, bridges, and tunnels, and the establishment of railway towns and entire new industries.
