The Cavalry of the Clouds

Description

This is the story of the birth of aerial warfare, the reality behind the legend of the "death or glory" boys of the British Royal Flying Corps of World War I. It is told in grim documentary footage that shows the dreadful conditions of the ground warfare so many of the pilots sought to escape by volunteering to fly; fascinating footage of aerial encounters and aerial battles; footage of Baron von Richthoven (the famous Red Baron); and in reminiscences of some of the survivors of a time and a career when men were old at 19, often dead before they were 20, when the life expectancy of a pilot was two weeks.
