Personal journeys, professional paths. Navigating the crossroads
Description
How can we increase the presence of American Indians and Alaska Native in leadership roles in science? Dr. Manson describes a highly successful postdoctoral program that prepares young AI/AN scientists for careers as independent, externally funded agents, who work at the nexus of issues in culture, aging, and health. This is a skill-driven approach for intensively mentoring of Native trainees without requiring relocation from their home institutions. Wide implications for education and training in multiple settings.
