A conversation with gender non-conforming, gender non-binary youth
Description
Em and Isa, two gender non-binary youth of color, share their advice for adults who want to provide meaningful and culturally responsive support to transgender, gender non-binary, and gender non-conforming young people. Em and Isa join Julie Tilsen in a conversation that focuses not only on the challenges of living beyond the gender binary, but also the liberatory possibilities that exist there as well. Some of the themes these two young people address are: the centrality of language; intersectionality; the effects of white supremacy, misogyny, and transphobia; and the meaning of community. This conversation is an invitation to join Isa, Em, and Julie to listen to and learn from trans youth in their own words.
