Foner talks about Reconstruction Act of 1867 and bringing interracial democracy to the south, impeachment of Andrew Johnson vote, meaning of freedom, black codes, gaining the vote, carpetbaggers, emergence of a black political class, expulsion of black legislators from Georgia and order by Congress to restore them.
