End of the Sad Zone
Description
Until November 1989, the village of Grossburschla fell within the 'sad zone' on the frontier between East and West Germany. Whilst the world's television screens were filled with scenes of the Wall tumbling down in Berlin, similarly momentous changes were also quietly taking place in the countryside. Filmed in the summer of 1990, less than a year after the Wall came down, this film captures the optimism of that moment.
