How to video series for educators
Description
The technique of using a spiraling sequence of questions is an effective way to involve more students in learning and promote deeper understanding of the subject matter. First asking students to carefully observe an image (such as a picture or graph), the teacher then asks questions at the knowledge and comprehension levels. Repeating the process with a new image, questions are spiraled to higher levels of thinking, with the teacher guiding students in making comparisons, analyzing information, and evaluating and synthesizing understandings. Here's a video that shows how teachers in any grade level and subject area can pose questions to provide a starting point that is comfortable for all students.Assess students' skills and interests in the topic. Engage students in thinking more deeply about, analyzing, and evaluating a concept. Help students practice thinking skills that enhance student understanding of the curriculum.
