Description
Reel 1 shows the island of St. Croix, close-ups of charts of statistics on the population of the Virgin Islands, crowds in the streets, tractors clearing land, ground being plowed, houses being constructed, women working in cane fields, and oxen drawing cartloads of cut cane. Reel 2, sugar cane is cut by farmers on St. Croix, is carted to market, and is processed in a refinery. Shows tomatoes, limes, and livestock in the Islands; an experimental cotton crop at the Virgin Islands Agricultural Experiment Station; housing construction; and laborers lined up at a pay window.
